"To Do" List for Starting Your Training

 

All student pilots must have an FAA Flight Medical before they start flight training. Here are the three certified FAA Aviation Medical Examiners in Columbus, GA. Obtain the text books for your course. Skyline Columbus utilizes the Jeppesen Private Pilot 141 Kit. Feel free to serach the web for deals or buy direct from Jeppesen here. Or search the Internet for "JS302009" Bring us a current passport or an original (or certified copy) or your US Birth certificate to prove your nationality (TSA Rule). Fill out your intial paperwork and sign your aircraft rental agreement. From the home page of our website, click the "Online Schedule" tab at the top and then click on the "Create New Account" tab. Fill out the form and submit it.

 Here are some OPTIONAL items you may feel to purchase as you go through your training.

1. An Aviation Headset (Or rent from us for only $5 more per lesson)
2. Aviation Kneeboard
3. Flash light for night training (one with a read & white lights)
4. Handheld aviation radio (in case the radios in the airplane stop working in flight)
5. Aviation Handheld GPS
6. IPAD or equivilent for flight planning (may also act as a GPS)
7. Aircraft Renters Insurance
8. Personal Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT)
9. Electronic E6-B flight computer
10. PC Based Flight Simulator (X-Plane 10 or Microsoft Flight Sim)

During your training, you will study for an oral, written, and practical examination. If you enroll in our formal ground school, it will prepare you for the written examination. If you are not enrolled in a formal ground school, you will need to prepare for your written test, here is the online material to carefully guide you through that phase of your training.
